The Kaduna State Police Command recently intercepted a truck conveying 13 human trafficking victims to Oyo State, arresting three suspects.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed this in a statement released on Sunday.
The statement read in part, “In furtherance of the IGP’s directive on the due implementation of the police’s action plan for the year 2025, police operatives attached to the Kaduna State Command apprehended three persons identified as Samson Peterm’ aged 25 years, Haruna Duniyam’ aged 45 years, and Abdulazaq Olawolem’ aged 58 years.
“The suspects were arrested while trafficking 13 victims to Oyo State in an unmarked vehicle. The victims were rescued, and the investigation is still ongoing.”
Adejobi further stated that on January 29th, the Ogun State Police Command carried out a covert operation to locate a kidnapper’s hideout following a reported kidnapping on January 25th.
A gun battle apparently erupted, resulting in the elimination of five gang members.
The statement added, “Upon sighting the operatives, the gang engaged the police operatives in a gun duel.
“The confrontation led to the neutralisation of 5 of the gang members and the successful rescue of the 3 kidnapped victims, with the recovery of some arms and ammunition of various calibres, 3 mobile phones, and the cash sum of N5.2 million (five million, two hundred thousand naira only).
“Also recovered were the vehicles of the kidnapped victims.”
The FPRO further stated that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, praised the operatives for their “exhibition of gallantry, dedication to duty, and patriotism.”
He was also reported to have encouraged all personnel of the force to stay relentless in their pursuit of peace and reassured the people that the police force is still committed to properly combating all security concerns.
