A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Mr Olusola Sokunle on Tuesday hailed President Muhammadu Buhari and the military over the successful capture of Boko Haram enclave in Sambisa forest.

Sokunle, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, told newsmen that the feat showed government’s commitment to the security of lives and property of Nigerians.

The lawmaker, however, urged the government to improve the living condition of Internally Displaced Persons’ in various camps across the country.

According to him, it is important for the Buhari government to ensure that all displaced Nigerians adjust to a normal life before returning to their communities and homes.

“Security of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government anywhere in the world.

“The capture of Sambisa by the Nigerian Army is a signal that the Federal Government is conscious of the security of lives and property of the citizen.

“We advise the federal government to further improve the lives of those in the IDP camps,” Sokunle said.

The lawmaker, who represents Oshodi/Isolo Constituency I, felicitated with Christians as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

He urged them to use the period to pray for peaceful coexistence in the country.

According to him, such prayers would help support the efforts of government in resuscitating the nation’s ailing economy.

President Buhari had on December 24, announced the fall of the last enclave of Boko Haram in Sambisa forest to the Nigerian military.
