The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has called on Nigerians to seek God’s intervention as the country continues to grapple with insecurity.
Kumuyi made the appeal during a visit to the Benue State Government House, where he met Deputy Governor Sam Ode, who represented Governor Hyacinth Alia. The visit formed part of activities marking the week-long Global Crusade taking place in Gboko and Otukpo Local Government Areas, according to Channels Television.
The cleric said lasting solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges can only come through God, urging citizens to turn to Him in humility and prayer.
“We know that, when bad things happen, there are people who are responsible for it, but the people are not the solution. God is our problem solver.”
He added: “God is waiting for us. He said, ‘If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and turn away from their sins,’ He is ready to solve their problems.”
Kumuyi explained that the Global Crusade is intended to encourage people to return to God and seek divine help during difficult times.
He also commended the Benue State Government for progress in key sectors despite ongoing security concerns.
“Benue is making remarkable progress in infrastructure and education, despite visible challenges around insecurity,” he said.
Speaking during the visit, Deputy Governor Sam Ode described Benue as a state blessed with abundant agricultural and human resources. He said Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration remains committed to promoting peace, unity and inclusive development.
The crusade comes shortly after Benue marked its 50th anniversary, during which the state government appealed to residents to embrace peace and reconciliation.
Benue has remained one of Nigeria’s worst-affected states by insecurity, with repeated attacks forcing thousands of people from their communities. Many displaced residents are still living in camps as authorities continue efforts to restore peace and enable affected communities to return home.
