Nigerian security operatives has arrested one of Benue State‘s most wanted terrorist and criminal, Aondofa Kefas, popularly known as Azonto.

Azonto is the second in command to late notorious Benue militia leader, Terwase Akwaza, aka Gana.

Azonto has reportedly been terrorizing the Sankara axis of Benue North-East Senatorial District.

The notorious criminal and his men have reportedly been kidnapping innocent citizens, robbing farmers and local traders as well as corroborating with Fulani militia herdsmen to kill people in the area.

    • Soldiers kill Benue’s ‘most wanted criminal,’ Gana

In May, about 100 people were killed in Tse Shikaan in Mbagena, Kpav, Katsina-Ala LGA of Benue State, by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen and men of the late militant, Terwase Akwaza alias ‘Gana’.

A source said Azonto was fleeing Benue following a heavy manhunt launched against him by the joint security operatives, before meeting his arrest.

Efforts by our correspondent to reach the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Catherine Anene, proved abortive as her telephone lines were unreachable as at the time of filing this report.
