Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is optimistic the Super Eagles have the quality to get a win against South Africa in Bloemfontein on Tuesday (today), as they face off in a crunch 2026 World Cup qualifying match.

The Super Eagles are currently trailing the Bafana Bafana by six points in Group C, and a win would boost their prospects of qualifying for the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

After seven games of the 10-game series, the Super Eagles have won two, lost one, and drawn four.

With three matches remaining, they sit third in the group with 10 points and risk missing out on a second consecutive World Cup.

Nwabali remains optimistic that they would be able to build on their 1-0 triumph over Rwanda.

“I feel like we have a very strong squad to match any country. I don’t see it as a big thing to us. We respect them because they are doing well by topping the group. Even though it’s going to be a tough game, I feel we will come out strong,” Nwabali told NFF TV.

“Every game has its own plan. You might have seen them against others, but it’s a different approach when it comes to Nigeria. I feel we will win that game.”

South Africa leads the group with 16 points, followed by the Benin Republic with 11 and the Eagles with 10.

The group’s top team will join eight other African countries that finished first in their individual groups to earn automatic entry into the tournament, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
