Rear Admiral Eugennio Ferriera, the Commander, Joint Task Force (JTF), South-South Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), has stated that there will be no hiding place for criminals in the region.

He made the statement while leading the destruction of an illicit crude oil refinery complex at Ibaah in Emuoha Local Government Area Council of Rivers State.

Admiral Ferreira who also paid a familiarization visit to the Land Component and 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, having taken over from Rear Admiral Aminu Hassan as Commander of the Joint Military Task Force on Friday, 2nd June, 2023, further emphasized that there would be zero tolerance for any act that would prevent the JTF OPDS from carrying out its duty.

He urged criminal groups in the region to take advantage of the federal government’s “non-kinetic” measures and earn lawful means of income, or face their Waterloo at the hands of the military.

Earlier in his address to troops, Rear Admiral Ferriera charged troops to remain steadfast in carrying out the responsibilities of the JTF OPDS.

In addition, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander JTF OPDS, stated that since his appointment as GOC, he has directed the start of night patrols by troops of the land component throughout the JTF OPDS area of responsibility.

He stated that this action has further put pressure on the criminals. He affirmed that further initiatives would be instituted to further put the criminals on the run.
