Nigerians on social media have expressed their disappointment in Senator Tony Nwoye, representing Anambra North Senatorial District, over a picture of a tech innovation and computer hub built for the people of the Aguleri community in the state.

In a post on his verified X handle, @SenatorNwoye, the lawmaker stated that the establishment had been completed and handed over to the community for use.

“This innovation centre is a befitting infrastructure for skills acquisition and empowerment for the youths, with positive knock-on effects on socio-economic upliftment for the people of Anambra North Senatorial Zone and residents of the state,” the senator said.

On the importance of the hub to the community, Nwoye stated, “The hub is meant to train young people in the latest technological innovations. We will equip the centre with modern ICT equipment, and I can tell you that those that will be trained and passed through this hub will do so free of charge.”

However, the substandard nature of technology and innovation, as seen in the picture posted by Nigerians on social media, has raised an uproar, as many believe the structure of the innovation hub can’t even pass for a poultry house.

Reacting to development, X user Benkingsley Nwashara said, “This thing that Tony Nwoye built in the name of a tech hub, would he allow his kids to ever learn tech inside this kind of building, which could at best be used as a public toilet? Nigerian politicians are wicked.”

Comparing the project to a similar hub built by Lagos East Senator Tokunbo Abiru, a Labour Party enthusiast and influencer, Nefertiti posted, “I’m glad that Obidients are calling out Senator Tony Nwoye for building a poultry for his people rather than a tech hub. That is how a new Nigeria that is possible is supposed to be. Congratulations to Tokunbo Abiru and Lagos East; Adetokunbo gave his people a proper tech hub.”

In a similar vein, APC supporter and X user, A.Ayofe (@abdullahayofel), said, “The Federal Government gave Senators Tony Nwoye and Tokunbo Abiru the same amount of money for the same constituency project. Tony Nwoye built a “tech innovation and computer” hub centre for his people. Tokunbo Abiru built a tech innovation and computer hub for his people. In Abia State,I haven’t seen one “Tech Innovation and Technology Hub.” I’m using Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe as a case study because he has been a senator for more than 12 years. Have you asked your Senators and HoRs what they’re doing with their constituency funds that run into millions of Nigerians?”

Another X user and Labour Party enthusiast, Pearls (@MissPearls), asked the senator, Whoever knows Sen. Tony Nwoye should tell him to knock it off. I will not address him myself; tagging me won’t make me do so. He should knock that post down, knock that ‘abandoned building’ down. Most importantly, knock himself out. A tech hub? Really? This is beyond embarrassing!”

“There’s something special about tech innovation hubs—they’re more than just places to work. The creative energy, the innovative ideas, and the inspiring environment all come together to create a truly magical place. What Senator Tony Nwoyebuilt in his constituency is a mere secondary school classroom block.” X user and Anambra state indigiene Ozii Baba Anieto posted.

Expressing his disappointment in the standard of the project, Pure Stanley X (@PureStanley1) stated, “Tony Nwoye’s tech innovation and computer hub. This man doesn’t give a hoot about his people; he had the effrontery to build a secondary school canteen, or should I say a low-priced poultry, and call it a computer hub?”
