Former Spokesperson of the Atiku/Okowa Campaign Council, Daniel Bwala, has received severe lashes from Nigerians following his statement that seems to disparage a renowned Nigerian journalist.

Bwala, in a statement on his verified X page on Tuesday, described a journalist who many believe to be Rufai Oseni as a “ferocious journalist who poses as unbiased but” supports a former presidential candidate “clandestinely.”

Bwala made the statement while responding to Rufai Oseni’s tweet where he berated a certain President Bola Tinubu critic-turned apologist.

Rufai, in a statement on Tuesday, posed a question, saying, “He called the current president names during the elections; once the elections are over, he aligns with the president. Who is this man?” A statement many, including Bwala, believed was aimed at him.

Responding to Rufai’s statement, Bwala wrote, He is a ferocious journalist who poses as unbiased but evidently supports a particular presidential candidate. Who is he? And who does he clandestinely support?”

However, Nigerians berated the former Atiku apologist for criticising the journalist, who many describe as “impartial.”

Many also berated him for allegedly being double-mouthed, arguing that he sternly criticised Tinubu when working for his principal, Atiku.

However, following the outcome of the election, he shifted his tent to become a strong supporter of the Nigerian leader.

Bwala is ‘infamous’ for saying, “The human brain is unique and miraculous. It works and functions optically 24 hours a day, 365 days a year until you join APC, then it stops working.”

Reacting to Bwala’s criticism of the journalist, Bethel Anunihu, an X user, wrote, “Thanks (Bwala) for revealing your true self to some of us that thought you were actually an asset to the Nigerian political space. At least we have now confirmed you’re only a leach and lacking character.”

“You have redefined the word shame; your kids will never be proud of a shameless dad like you. What a world they’re witnessing right now. Fully aligned with the man you called all kinds of names few months ago just to eat food. What a world,” Paschal Ozougwu said in his response.

Edozie Lucius argued that “the awards he (Rufai) has gotten because of the unbiased journalism he practices—one of them, if given to you, X, will explode because you will be reposting it on a minute basis.”

Chike described him as a “nuisance” when he said, “He is far, far better than you and what you represent. I tell you, everyone, including your principal, sees you as a first-class nuisance.”

Other responses include: “He supports good governance, not like Chameleon. They can change in a second, like Bwala, Reno, and Bode. that lacks integrity,” Afeomo Ade

“At your age, class, and exposure, at these critical times, this is what a man like you, who should be using your time to educate and mentor young people, will be wasting your life talking about. Come on. We should do better,” said Gabriel Apase.

“I deeply think you should be ashamed of these responses. Assuming these responses are electoral ballots, would you say you have followers? 95% of us here are trolling you. I know you are angry at yourself for the poor decisions you made, but real men can always say, ‘had I known what I know now,” Joseph D. Constance

“He is more honourable than you can ever be. You have shown times and times again that you’re a man without honour, and history will never be kind to you for this,” Henry Makata said.

“Double face, man. The person you refer to is a very objective, progressive, and patriotic Nigerian journalist. His objective analysis only qualifies one former presidential candidate, coincidentally. Maybe no other candidate is as progressive and patriotic to fit his description.” P. Uchmam
