The Bayelsa State Police Command announced it has detained 17 individuals in connection with the horrible murder of two graduates of the Bayelsa State-owned Nigeria Delta University at Gbarantoru Community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.

Chronicle NG gathered that the suspects were apprehended by members from the Rapid Response Squad, led by CSP Bishop Elemide, who conducted a stop and search operation along Amassoma Road on Friday night.

Four suspected cyber fraudsters are among the 17 people accused of sponsoring the killings of two graduates, Ayaokpo Sinclair and his buddy.

On Sunday, a police source said that after receiving a radio alarm, the RRS promptly launched a stop and search operation, discovering over 13 youngsters packed inside a Suzuki minibus with blood stains.

He stated: “We saw over 13 boys cramped inside with blood stains on a few of them and machetes stained with blood. The police immediately suspected they were the ones who carried out the killing.

“Upon questioning, the police discovered that they went to the scene of the crime in two mini-buses. One developed fault while they were escaping, and they decided to abandon it and use a minibus.”

Another police source stated that the “boys were suspected members of the notorious Vikings cult group and that the killing of the two university graduates was sponsored by some four Yahoo boys.”

Musa Mohammed, spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, stated that several arrests were made by RRS members, and the extent to which each suspect was involved is being investigated.

“Yes, some major arrests have been made, and the command is investigating,” Mohammed stated on Sunday.

The two killed grads were said to be members of the Neo Black Movement, also known as Black Axe Aye, while some said they belonged to the Bobos cult.

Members of the Vikings cult organisation have gone into hiding at NDU, other higher education institutions, and secondary schools in the state capital, fearing reprisal attacks.
