Gunmen killed four people, including a nine-month-old baby, in Nkiendowro, Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.

The attack, which occurred on Wednesday, resulted in the deaths of two ladies and one male, with two others injured.

The four were claimed to be transporting tomatoes from their farm in the Nkiendowro community to the Farin-Gada market in Jos when gunmen ambushed them, killing them.

Joseph Chudu, the spokesman for the Miango Youths Development Association, confirmed the deaths to reporters in Jos on Thursday.

According to Chudu, the victims were taken to the mortuary, while the injured were sent to the hospital, where they are still being treated.

Chudu said, “I don’t know the type of democracy we are practising. Every day, people are being killed, and the perpetrators are not brought to book. There have been attacks and killings since last week. Just yesterday, four people, including a nine-month-old baby, were killed in the Nkiendowro community.

“The victims went to pick tomatoes on their farms. They loaded the baskets of tomatoes in the car from the farm, and when they were about to leave, they were ambushed at a bridge close to the Tegbe-Nkiendowro community, and then they were all killed.”

The community leader stated that the attack had been reported to the security agencies, saying, “We don’t know what to do again because the killings are just too much.”

At the time of filing this report, the spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, had yet to comment on the attack by the gunmen.
