The Kano State Fire Service has revealed that a husband and wife died in a midnight fire at Rangaza (Inken) Layin AU in the state’s Ungogo Local Government Area.

The fatalities were identified as 67-year-old Muhammed Uba and his 52-year-old wife, Fatima.

Hassan Muhammad, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, announced this in a statement published by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Abdullahi, on Friday in Kano.

Muhammad claimed that the incident happened at midnight on Thursday, December 12.

He said, “We received a distress call at about 01:45 a.m. from one of our staff, Ahmad Abubakar, and immediately sent our rescue team to the scene at about 01:51 a.m.”

Muhammad stated that it is a bungalow measuring approximately 50 by 25 feet that was utilised as a dwelling place and had two rooms that were destroyed by fire.

He said that the victims were trapped by smoke from the inferno but were retrieved unconscious, with burns on some sections of their bodies.

He stated that their bodies were handed over to Muhammad Rayyanu, the ward head of Rangaza in the Ungogo Local Government Area.

“The cause of the fire is being investigated,” he explained.

The PPRO asked the general population to follow safety laws to avoid unanticipated events.
