The All Progressive Congress (APC) on Sunday claimed victory in the Edo governorship election ahead of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration with the ongoing coalition of results.
Kassim Afegbua, Director of Media, Edo APC Campaign Council, in a statement alleged that the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, planned to cause a breach of public order.
Afegbua also alleged that PDP members had gathered at the Ring Road and the Museum Ground to protest the outcome of the Edo election and acknowledged their right to protest.
However, the party cautioned that if the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki, decides to burn down Edo State, the law will take its full course.
Afegbua said that the APC governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, will serve as governor for all without discrimination.
He added that Okpebholo will unite the Edo people and create opportunities for all to pursue their legitimate and collective aspirations without let or hindrance.
The APC said it has urged its members to be magnanimous in victory, emphasizing that the Edo electoral contest is the aspiration of all political parties that contested.
