Mobile telecommunication company, MTN Plc, has announced the change of its recharge and data activation codes.

Subscribers on the MTN network used *555* for recharging and *131# for buying data but that has now changed.

Though MTN did not give reasons for the change in codes, however, the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), on the 14th of March 2023, released a harmonized short codes to be used by mobile network operators and customers in the country.

The codes according to the NCC are designed to help make telecommunication services easier and less burdensome for both the users and the network providers.

Dear customer, this is to inform you of a change in our recharge activation code. “You can now recharge your lines using *311*recharge pin# instead of
    * 555*recharge pin#. We encourage you to start using the code for your convenience,” the telco said.
