Operatives of Amotekun, the Ondo State Security Network Agency, have rescued three nurses abducted by gunmen at a primary health center in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the development while speaking at the headquarters of the command, saying the health workers were rescued at about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday.

In the same vein, Adeleye also confirmed the rescue of a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son who were abducted in the Pelebe community along Oda Road, Akure.

He said, “The man and his son were kidnapped between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. yesterday (Friday). The victims were, however, rescued by our men at about 1:00 a.m. after a heavy confrontation with the kidnappers.

“The three health workers earlier abducted have also been rescued at about 4:30 a.m. and are currently receiving treatment at the Amotekun health facility.”

Chronicle NG reports that some armed terrorists reportedly stormed the primary health center located in the Oke Ijebu area of Akure, abducting no fewer than three health workers on duty on Saturday morning.

It was gathered that the terrorists struck at the government-owned facility at about 2 a.m. and whisked away the victims.

According to one of the patients at the center, the attackers arrived in a bus, forced their way into the facility, and abducted the victims, while other health personnel on duty managed to flee.

The bandits were allegedly said to have loaded all of the victims onto the bus before driving away to an unknown location.

The Amotekun commander reminded people that the state government continues to prioritize the safety of lives and property. He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and adequate information to security services, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to improve safety throughout the state.
