Two illegal migrants have been arrested over the gruesome murder of Lola Daviet, a 12-year-old girl whose remains were found in a suitcase outside of her home in Paris, France.

It is thought that Lola Daviet, the victim, was tortured and raped before she was put to death.

On Monday, two suspects—a male, 43, and a homeless Algerian woman, 24, only known as Dabhbia B—were charged in the French capital.

Police apparently questioned two other persons previously, including the suspect’s sister, but they were not placed under arrest.

Six people in total were held for interrogation; however, only two are currently charged, and the prosecutor has asked that they be remanded in custody.

The primary suspect may have lived with and been driven about by the 43-year-old man who is currently under arrest. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo paid a visit to the school personnel in the area.

The French education minister, Pap Ndiaye, observed a minute of silence alongside Lola’s peers.

The mayor of Lola’s neighbourhood in Paris’s 19th arrondissement, Francois Dagnaud, attended the nearby Georges-Brassens high school and stated, “This is a terrible ordeal for this school, this community, and the entire neighbourhood.

“What’s important is that the prime suspect has apparently been arrested and that there is no psychopath wandering the streets of our district, which is otherwise perfectly calm.”

Residents of the working-class neighbourhood of Paris close to Buttes-Chaumont Park, a well-known public landscape featuring a lake and waterfall, have been appalled by the horrific act.

The victim was a young, talented gymnast who had qualified for the national finals in her age group in May.

Residents of the area left flowers and condolence notes outside her flat building on Sunday.

At her secondary school, psychological counsellors were available to assist traumatised peers.
