Hoodlums in Kano state have reportedly killed seven people, including a 35-year-old woman and her six children, on Saturday during a brutal attack in the Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters area of the state.

The identified victims, Fatima Abubakar and her children, faced an assault at their home by unidentified assailants who allegedly invaded the residence and caused lethal injuries with hazardous weapons.

In a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident, stating that the command received a distress call around 12:10 pm on January 17, indicating an attack on the home of one Haruna Bashir.

He stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, promptly assembled a group of officers at the location, headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police responsible for Operations, DCP Lawal Mani.

The police reported that the victims were taken to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano, where medical staff declared them deceased.

“The bodies were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival,” Kiyawa said.

He further stated that the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Wada Jarma, has been asked to undertake a comprehensive investigation to identify and apprehend those guilty of the attack.

The command offered condolences to the bereaved family, residents of Dorayi Chiranchi, and the people of Kano State, assuring them that efforts were being made to bring the criminals to justice.

The attack has thrown the Dorayi Chiranchi hamlet into grief, with people demanding increased protection and immediate action to prevent a repetition.
