The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday ordered the remand of one Chidiebere Justice Mark, also known as Justice Crack, in the custody of the Department of State Services for alleged cybercrime offenses related to a viral video involving the Nigerian Army.

The DSS arraigned Mark before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on a three-count allegation of allegedly spreading false information and publishing things that could cause civil strife.

The defendant, who was arrested by the Nigerian Army over the weekend, was accused of posting a popular video and accompanying claims on his X account, @JusticeCrack, alleging poor feeding of Nigerian soldiers.

One of the charges against him read, “That you, CHIDIEBERE JUSTICE MARK, adult, male, of Plot 88 Sabon-Lugbe, Abuja, on or about the 28th day of April, 2026, in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, did circulate information to the public through your social media handle @JusticeCrack, regarding alleged inadequate feeding of Nigerian Army personnel, which you know the said information to be false but posted it for the purpose of causing annoyance, ill will, and hatred, especially among the citizens who hold divergent views, and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 24(1) (b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, as amended.”

In count two, the DSS said that Mark created and shared a viral video and related statements on the Nigerian army via his X account, which reportedly sparked widespread unfavorable reactions and was likely to cause fear and a breach of peace.

The prosecution further accused the defendant in the third count of attempting to commit a crime by publishing what it described as a disrespectful film and words about the Nigerian Army.

According to the charge, the publication reportedly sparked widespread negative reactions capable of instilling fear and disrupting the peace, in violation of Section 509 of the Criminal Code Act.

After the arraignment, Justice Abdulmalik adjourned the matter till May 25, 2026, for trial and possible hearing of a bail application.

The judge thereafter ordered that the defendant be remanded in DSS custody pending the determination of the case.
