France defender Ibrahima Konaté is in advanced talks with Real Madrid about joining the La Liga club on a free transfer.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Konate is close to finalizing negotiations on a move to the Bernabeu when his contract with Liverpool expires at the end of June.
Liverpool stated on Sunday that Konate will depart the club at the end of his current contract.
The 27-year-old had previously been in talks to prolong his time on Merseyside, but those conversations came to an end due to a disagreement between the center-back and the club over his worth and salary.
Konaté made 183 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and two League Cups.
He originally joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 for £35 million.
He is expected to become the second Liverpool player to leave for Real Madrid for free in consecutive summers, following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit last year.
