Globacom extends 4G reach to Ota, Ikorodu, and 18 other locations
The spread of Globacom’s 4G/LTE network continues to gather momentum with additional 20 locations, including Ikorodu in Lagos, Ota in Ogun State and Zuba in Abuja going live on the network.

Globacom announced this in a press statement from its head office in Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday, indicating that over 60 locations are now live on the company’s brand new 4G LTE network.

Among the new locations are Idi Araba, Idi Oro, Mushin, Apapa and Oyingbo in Lagos; Jikwoyi, Dawaki, Gudu, Karu, Kado, Kuje and Zuba in Abuja and Eagle Island, Chinda, Abuloma, Iwofe, Choba, and Onne in Port Harcourt.

Globacom launched Nigeria’s first 4G LTE nationwide mobile network on October 4, 2016 in nine cities. The launch cities of the advanced technology include Lagos- Lekki, Ikoyi, V.I, Ajah and Akoka; Port Harcourt- Aba Road, Trans Amadi, Diobu, Old GRA and UNIPort; Warri, Eket; Benin; Abuja- Maitama, Wuse, Asokoro, Garki/Central Business District and Airport Road; Jos; Yola – ABTI and Zaria- ABU.

About a week later, Globacom followed up by adding eight locations, namely: Okada (Igbinedion University), Abraka (Delta State University), Bonny, Escravos, Forcados, Ekpoma (Ambrose Alli University), Agbor (College of Education), and Sapele (Western Delta University).

A couple of weeks later, 16 more locations came alive on the 4G LTE map. They included Ikeja, Isolo, LASU, Oregun and Opebi in Lagos State, Redemption Camp and Babcock University in Ogun State, Redeemer’s University in Ede, Osun State, Rukpokwu, Rumuibekwe, Eleme Junction, Eliozu, Woji, and Rumuigbo in Rivers State and Mpape and Utako in Abuja.

The addition of the latest 20 locations lends strong credence to the operator’s promise to take the advanced mobile telecommunications network to every part of the country.

Glo 4G LTE network offers subscribers efficient mobile broadband internet which is several times faster than a 3G network. It enables them to surf the internet at the speed of light and download ultra high definition videos in seconds.

In order to make it possible for all classes of Nigerians to access the service, Globacom has introduced a wide range of data bundles. Some of the data bundles include N500 for 1.6GB of data, N1000 for 3.2GB data and 7.5GB for N2000. Others include 10GB for N2,500, 18GB for N4000 and 24GB for N5000.

Customers wishing to join the network are advised to buy and register a 4G LTE Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) or swap their existing SIM for a 4G SIM, get a 4G phone, if their current handset does not support the new SIM, and dial *777# to buy a data plan.

“We want to assure our esteemed customers that we are working at a frenetic pace to take our superior 4G LTE services to where they live and work. If Glo 4G LTE is not near you yet, please, rest assured we will be there before you know it,” Globacom said.
