The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Friday, led members of the party’s National Working Committee to visit former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Kaduna State.

The visit came hours after the Peoples Democratic Party’s 2023 presidential contender, Atiku Abubakar, led the opposition delegation in a Sallah tribute to the former president.

The delegation included Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State; Aminu Tambuwal, former governor of Sokoto; Achike Udenwa, former governor of Imo State; Gabriel Suswam, former governor of Benue; Jibrilla Bindow, former governor of Adamawa; Abubakar Malami, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation; and Isa Pantami, former Minister of Communications.

El-Rufai told reporters after the meeting that his visit to the former president was not political and urged “adversaries” not to lose sleep.

The former minister of the Federal Capital Territory noted that the visit was for “unity and brotherhood”.

While the outcome of the APC NWC’s visit is unknown, there are rising concerns that the Congress for Progressive Change group may leave the APC following the defection of some party members to the Social Democratic Party.

Buhari was a member of the CPC faction, one of four political parties that merged in 2013 to form the APC.

He has stated that he will never abandon the APC, despite speculation.
