The federal government has formally set the age of admission to the nation’s higher institutions at 16.
This came as the government warned that any entrance made outside of the Central Admission Processing System, or CAPS, would be illegal and the culprits would be arrested.
Dr Tunji Alausa, Minister of Education, announced this on Tuesday when opening JAMB’s Policy Meeting in Abuja.
He cautioned that heads of institutions discovered to be committing fraud in admitting students will face prosecution.
Alausa claimed that the government’s official age of 16 is non-negotiable.
