The FCT Police Command’s anti-kidnapping unit has rescued at least 22 persons who were kidnapped and carried beyond the boundaries of the Federal Capital Territory into surrounding states.

CP Haruna G. Garba, the command’s commissioner of police, made the announcement at a news conference at the command’s headquarters on Friday.

He said that a village leader who was kidnapped on April 7 in Chida village, Kwali Area Council, Abuja, was also rescued during the May 3rd operation.

“The command’s anti-kidnapping outfit, in a clearance-and-rescue operation in and around Kogi and Nasarawa states and FCT borders, successfully rescued 14 people, including the village chief of the community, who were abducted by armed bandits at Chida village in Kwali Area Council on April 7, 2023,” according to the Garba.

“Ten victims with minor illnesses were taken to the General Hospital in Abaji, treated, and released.” They were later reunited with their family.

“In light of the foregoing, I want to reassure the public that the offensive against armed bandits will continue, and the fleeing suspects will be apprehended in no time.” The Daily Post reports”
