President Muhammadu Buhari has concluded that he will sack his overzealous Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari with his replacement to be named in the coming weeks.

A source in the Presidency told chronicle.ng, that President Buhari informed close allies that he will sack Kyari who has been linked to a number of corrupt cases in the last four years.

The source said the President is trying to rid his administration of people who have tainted their names or who are living fat as a result of the position they hold in his government.

“Barring last minute changes, I can tell you that President Buhari will sack Abba Kyari,” the source said, adding that, two weeks ago, Mr. Kyari brought Emirs to the Presidential Villa to beg the President.

“During the Ramadan, Mr. Kyari brought Emirs to the Villa to beg the President. For those of us on the inside we hope the President stands his ground. The truth is that he is very unpopular in the Villa and not someone you want to work it,” the source said.

Explaining some of the difficulties experienced in the Presidency, the source said, Mr. Kyari has for example sidelined Femi Adesina, the special adviser on Media and Publicity to President Buhari.

“Since May 29, Mr. Kyari sidelined Femi Adesina. He wrote a letter to that effect and has even handpicked his replacement. He believes that he is the President and brags that President Buhari will do anything he tells him.

“One, Atta Asa is the person that he picked to anchor the President’s meetings and functions. Mr. Kyari made it clear that Mr. Adesina’s appointment ended with the last dispensation and should not be brandishing himself as spokesperson to the President.

“Mr Adesina is not the only person that he is victimizing, he only happens to be one of the names that he is trying to get rid off,” the source added.

It would be recalled that Punch Newspaper had published a story detailing how Mr. Abba Kyari was alleged to have collected a 29 million naira bribe for the award of a contract.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the time said it had started working on a petition filed by Bako Waziri Kyari, who claimed to be a nephew to the chief of staff.

Mr. Kyari disclosed the dealings with the Chief of Staff during a popular radio programme, Berekete Family, on Human Rights Radio 101.1FM in Abuja.

He said Mr. Kyari and Sani Ado, whom he claimed worked with the Bureau of Public Procurement, allegedly collected N29.9m from him in order to facilitate the award of a contract.

The Presidency has since dismissed this claim stressing that, “the allegation is false and the Chief of Staff did not have any private meetings with the person making those allegations.”
