Bayer Leverkusen have dismissed Erik ten Hag after only three official matches in charge, the Bundesliga club confirmed on Monday.
The former Ajax and Manchester United boss, who joined Leverkusen during the summer, has endured a short-lived spell that ended abruptly following a disappointing start to the campaign.
The club stated: “Erik ten Hag has been fired by Bayer Leverkusen.”
This decision comes just days after Leverkusen let slip a lead in a dramatic 3-3 draw against Werder Bremen, piling pressure on the Dutchman. Reports earlier suggested he was already “facing sack from Bayer Leverkusen after just two league games.”
Leverkusen had undergone a significant squad overhaul in the transfer window, with Ten Hag previously saying, “Bayer Leverkusen’s summer overhaul not over.” However, his tenure has now come to a premature end.
