Tammy Abraham has been called up to the senior team by Gareth Southgate

England have called up the uncapped Tammy Abraham, Joe Gomez and Ruben Loftus-Cheek for the friendlies against Germany and Brazil this month.

Chelsea striker Abraham, 20, has scored five goals this season since joining Swansea on loan.

Defender Gomez, 20, has been a Liverpool regular, while Chelsea midfielder Loftus-Cheek, 21, has played seven games on loan at Crystal Palace.

The full squad will be announced at 14:00 GMT.

England play Germany on 10 November and Brazil on 14 November at Wembley.

Swansea boss Paul Clement said Abraham had been “picked on merit”.

“It’s very pleasing news to see someone we’ve brought to the club on loan rewarded with his first call-up,” he added.

England manager Gareth Southgate has called up Tammy Abraham to join Harry Kane up front

“His all-round game is developing, including back-to-goal and defensive positioning.

“Every level he’s played at, he’s contributed. Now he’s got the next test.”

Chronicle.ng had earlier reported that Nigerian Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick, who is a friend of the striker’s father, had promised him a place in the squad for next year’s World Cup, should the Super Eagles qualify for Russia 2018.

But striker had not yet made a decision on his international future and was than happy to remain part of the England U21 setup at the time.

Abraham was born in Camberwell, London as Kevin Oghenetega Tamaraebi Bakumo-Abraham.

“I had a very honest and productive discussion with Tammy and his father last week,” said Pinnick.

“It’s been a long process but I can tell you authoritatively that he has agreed to play for Nigeria and not England.

“He and his parents have started the necessary documents to effect the switch,” Pinnick added.
