Ed Sheeran, the Grammy-winning British singer, says he will be taking a break from music to focus on family life.
The Shape of You hitmaker made the announcement on Saturday during the opening night of his ‘LOOP’ tour in Glendale.
The father of two said he is seriously considering a break from music once the tour concludes so he can spend more time with his family.
“This is gonna be my last time here in a while. I might take some time off once this tour has ended and sort of do the dad thing,” Sheeran said.
“So, if I don’t see you for a while, I love you, thank you for coming.”
Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, first met as children, reconnected in 2015, and married in 2019. The couple have two daughters, Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 4.
This is not the first time Sheeran has stepped away from music. He previously took a break in 2015 and again between 2019 and 2021 following the conclusion of his Divide tour.
Sheeran began writing songs at around the age of 11 and independently released the EP No. 5 Collaborations Project in 2011. Since then, he has won multiple Grammy Awards.
