Max Dowman netted two goals as Arsenal cruised to a Carabao Cup third-round win away at Ipswich Town.
The 16-year-old was among two young players handed their first start of the season, joined by 17-year-old center-back Marli Salmon.
Dowman broke the deadlock in the seventh minute with a superb solo strike. He regained possession in midfield, exchanged a one-two with Eberechi Eze, and burst forward, sending two defenders to the turf before wrong-footing the goalkeeper.
Noni Madueke drilled home their second goal after Mikel Merino’s lofted flick.
Then, after the interval, Dowman displayed fine composure to bring down Martin Zubimendi’s pass and roll the ball into the far bottom corner.
Merino struck Arsenal’s fourth goal via the inside of the post.
Ipswich pulled two back through Anis Mehmeti’s finish from Jack Clarke’s pass and Chuba Akpom’s neat turn and strike—but it was much too little, much too late.
As has become customary, both teams’ named heavily changed starting line-ups—with 19 alterations combined from their weekend Premier League fixtures.
Arsenal who have won every match this season, will learn their fourth-round opponents on Wednesday, when the draw is made after Manchester United’s tie with Brighton (kick-off 20:00 BST).
