The Nigeria Customs Service‘s Adamawa/Taraba Area Command seized commodities worth N13 million, including 15,449 liters of Premium Motor Spirit.

This was revealed on Tuesday in a statement on the NCS’s official X account.

According to the statement, the Area Controller, Salisu Abdullahi, revealed this during a press conference on November 17, 2023, at the Area Command headquarters in Yola.

19 cartons of foreign pesticide and 26 bags of 50 kg of foreign parboiled rice were also seized.

Because of the flammability of the PMS, the Comptroller stated that the majority of the product had been disposed of in compliance with existing legislation, with the earnings transferred to the Federation Account.

Following the briefing, Abdullahi stated that the leftover PMS would be auctioned off.

He stated that the command did not catch any of the smugglers since they all fled, but he vowed to crack down on all smugglers, stating that the country cannot afford to allow saboteurs to take over the economy.

The comptroller urged Nigerians, stakeholders, and other relevant security agencies at the command’s borders to continue working with Customs in the fight against smuggling.
