Socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, has stated that President Bola Tinubu is cautious of him due to his support for Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential race.
The Cubana Chief Priest, who is the Imo State Coordinator of the Pro-Tinubu City Boys Movement, revealed this during a webcast with prominent streamer Peller.
In a video that circulated on Wednesday, the socialite detailed what he described as the president’s residual distrust of his ethnicity and former political affiliation.
“President Bola Tinubu does not really trust me as an Igbo man that I am. He looked at me with one eye because he believed that this one worked for Peter Obi before at the last election,” the chief priest stated.
He explained his decision to switch allegiance to Tinubu, claiming a desire to support a winning team and prevent further political defeats.
When asked why he quit Peter Obi, he replied, “Because I don’t want to lose again because they say the first fool is not a fool, but the second fool is a proper fool.”
The chief priest also criticized Obi’s prospects for the 2027 presidential election, labeling the Nigeria Democratic Party candidate as “not serious” and claiming that “the serious people will win.”
The chief priest was particularly vociferous in his support for Obi and the Labour Party ahead of the 2023 elections.
He has since sided with the ruling All Progressives Congress and Tinubu.
He recently purchased an APC primary form for a House of Representatives seat but withdrew the morning of the election on Saturday.
