Guinness World Records (GWR) has officially commented in response to a local news media report on an unofficial and inexistent record labelled cry-a-thon embarked on by a Nigerian man, Tembu Ebere, who allegedly went blind in an attempt to set a record.
“Just so you know, we wouldn’t ever monitor a record for the longest marathon crying. But we will always welcome new ideas for records; check our website for details,” Guinness World Records said.
In an interview published on the website of the British Broadcasting Corporation on Sunday, Ebere revealed that he went partially blind for 45 minutes while attempting the challenge.
Everyone explained that he experienced serious health issues, including headaches, a swollen face, and puffy eyes, with the ultimate being blindness, in his attempt to become yet another Nigerian, after Hilda Baci, to be celebrated for their GWR Feat.
“I had to restrategize and reduce my wailing,” he said, disclosing that he plans to see his goal through, even though he has yet to apply to Guinness World Records.
