The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially kicked off the countdown to Africa’s premier football competition, announcing on Friday that just 100 days remain until the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

For the first time in 37 years, Morocco will host the finals, welcoming 24 teams and millions of fans from December 21 2025, to January 18, 2026.

The finals will be played in nine stadiums across six cities including Rabat, Casablanca, Fès, Tangier, Marrakech and Agadir.

The 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire set unprecedented benchmarks, attracting more than 1.5 billion television viewers and generating over 2.4 billion digital streams.

CAF and fans alike expect Morocco 2025 to surpass those records, reaffirming AFCON’s growing global appeal.

Reigning champions Cote d’Ivoire will defend their crown in the 35th edition of a tournament that dates back to 1957, facing a strong challenge from the rest of Africa’s elite.

To mark the 100-day milestone, CAF unveiled a commemorative poster, further heightening anticipation.

Morocco has recently demonstrated its capacity to stage world-class tournaments, successfully hosting the 2024 Women’s AFCON and the 2025 U-17 AFCON.

The Kingdom is also preparing to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal, reinforcing its emergence as a global football hub.

With its blend of state-of-the-art facilities, rich culture, and unmatched hospitality, Morocco 2025 is set to be more than just a tournament – it will be a celebration of African unity and footballing excellence.

Morocco promises to provide a fan experience like no other away from the pitch with excellent hospitality and electric action on the field of play in state-of-the-art stadiums in a true celebration of African football.
