The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has described Lagos State as a “no-man’s land” and a source of pride for the Nigerian economy.

Political analyst and supporter of President Bola Tinubu, Daniel Bwala has criticized the leadership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) for its silence following the recent hike in petrol prices.

In a statement posted on X.com (formerly Twitter), Bwala expressed disappointment with the lack of communication from key officials about the rationale behind the price increase.

“When NNPCL announced a major policy decision like the increase of petrol, you would expect the GMD to make the media rounds, dissecting and explaining to Nigerians the genuine intentions of the government based on economic realities,” Bwala said.

However, he pointed out that the Group Managing Director (GMD) of NNPCL has remained silent, leaving the public in the dark. “He is nowhere to be found; totally incommunicado,” he added.

Bwala further criticized the Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, for also failing to address the public.

“The minister of state for petroleum too is incommunicado; and this has given room for the opposition to peddle all kinds of negative narrative around it. Sad,” he lamented.

The lack of communication from top officials has left many Nigerians frustrated, as they struggle to understand the government’s economic rationale behind the fuel price hike. Opposition figures have capitalized on the silence to voice their discontent, amplifying public dissatisfaction.

With tensions rising, Bwala’s criticism highlights the growing demand for transparency and engagement from NNPCL and government officials, as Nigerians seek clarity on the impact of these economic policies.
