Six new permanent secretaries for the Federal Civil Service were sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja.

Prior to the start of this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting, the swearing-in took place.

Mahmud Kambari (Borno State), Esuabana Nko-Asanye (Cross River), Lamuwa Ibrahim (Gombe), Yakubu Kofar-Mata (Kano), Oloruntola Michael (Ogun), and Richard Pheelangwah (Taraba State) are the appointments, along with their places of origin.

The occasion marked the conclusion of a weeks-long pre-qualification procedure for directors by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, according to Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, who read the citations of the new officials.

“Mr. President, after a recent selection process for directors, six individuals have met the requirements to serve as permanent secretaries.

“This exercise involved competency tests and interactions with a wide range of stakeholders,” he said.

The PS selections were authorised by Buhari a mere month before the swearing-in.

On March 29, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, the Federation’s head of service, said that the President had given his approval for the appointment of six PS to the Federal Civil Service as a result of the most recent selection process.

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the President’s Chief of Staff, and Maj-Gen. Babagana Monguno (ret.) were all present as the Federal Executive Council officially got underway.
