Mohammed Abacha was removed as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kano by the Court of Appeal, which was in session on Friday.
The High Court’s decision to recognize Abacha as the PDP’s nominee in the state was overturned by the court.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which had previously recognized Sadiq Wali, was also ordered by the court to continue to be the legitimate governorship candidate.
Justice Usman Musale, who delivered the unanimous judgement with three-man panel, held that Abacha had no locus standi to challenge the primary that produced Wali since he never participated in the primary election.
