Barcelona showcased their depth and resilience as a rotated and youthful squad came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over already-relegated Real Valladolid in LaLiga on Saturday.

Despite having nothing left to play for, Valladolid stunned the visitors early. Ivan Sanchez’s effort deflected off Ronald Araujo and wrong-footed Marc-André ter Stegen, who was making his return from injury.

The hosts nearly doubled their lead through Raúl Moro, but Ter Stegen responded well.

Barça, led by Hansi Flick, struggled to break down a determined Valladolid in the first half, with Ansu Fati and debutant Dani Rodríguez both going close. However, Rodríguez’s debut was cut short due to a shoulder injury before the break.

The second half saw a turning point with the introduction of Raphinha and Frenkie de Jong. Raphinha immediately made an impact, latching onto a poor punch by André Ferreira to slot home the equalizer.

Just minutes later, Gerard Martin set up Fermín López, who buried a composed first-time finish to complete the comeback.

Barcelona dominated possession and nearly added to their lead, with Héctor Fort hitting the post and Lamine Yamal denied by a goal-line clearance from Antonio Candela. Despite some late pressure from Valladolid, Barça held on for their fourth straight league win.

With this win, Barcelona ensured they stay at least four points ahead of Real Madrid heading into next week’s El Clásico.

Valladolid, meanwhile, suffered their eighth consecutive defeat — their worst-ever top-flight run.
