Barcelona tightened their grip on the LaLiga title race with a narrow 1-0 victory over RCD Mallorca at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, extending their unbeaten run in the league to 14 matches (12 wins, 2 draws).

The win moves them seven points clear at the top, although they have played a game more than their closest rivals.

Fresh from a dramatic 4-3 comeback against Celta Vigo—where they netted three times in the final half-hour—Barcelona carried their momentum into this tie, despite manager Hansi Flick opting to rotate his side.

Key forwards Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha were rested, with Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, and Ansu Fati spearheading the attack.

Despite dominating the first half, Barcelona failed to convert their chances. Ansu Fati had two misses, while Torres, Yamal, and Dani Olmo all tested Mallorca keeper Leo Roman, who was in superb form. Gavi also came close, his shot deflected onto the post by Jose Copete.

Mallorca, pushing for a European spot themselves, remained resilient and nearly shocked the hosts when Mateo Jaume found the net. However, his effort was ruled out for a marginal offside.

Barcelona didn’t need long after the break to finally break through. Less than a minute into the second half, Dani Olmo slotted home coolly, marking his ninth goal in just 11 LaLiga starts this season.

Flick’s men kept up the pressure, with Roman denying Fati again and Yamal firing over, but Mallorca had their moment when Antonio Raíllo’s header drifted just wide—a reminder of the threat they posed on the break.

Ultimately, Barcelona held firm and sealed the crucial three points. They now turn their focus to Saturday’s Copa del Rey final clash against Real Madrid, while Mallorca prepare to face Girona on Monday.

Mallorca remain in seventh, currently holding the final UEFA Conference League qualification spot, but their position is precarious, with the possibility of slipping to 11th depending on other results.
