Nigerian activist turned politician, Aisha Yesufu, has condemned the subsidising of Hajj for Muslim pilgrims by the Federal government. The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the interim forfeiture of $2.04 million and seven properties connected to former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele. Justice Akintayo Aluko issued the order on Thursday in response to an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, which is probing alleged fraudulent actions involving Emefiele. Patrick Aghamba, Anambra State’s Commissioner for Youth Development, and his wife have reportedly been kidnapped. Details of the incident remain vague, but sources say the commissioner’s aide, ABK Offiah, was killed in the process. Nigerian politician, human rights activist, and founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has accused the President Bola Tinubu-led administration of witch-hunting protesters who took part in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest. A fight erupted in Turkey’s parliament on Friday as members of parliament debated the fate of a detained opposition lawmaker who was controversially stripped of parliamentary immunity earlier this year.  The legislators met after the country’s constitutional court overturned parliament’s decision to remove Can Atalay from his parliamentary seat earlier this month. Angry youths in Niger State have brutally killed an immigration officer, Isah Mohammed, following a land dispute between two communities. The Immigration officer, a Doko indigene from the Zhitsu Babi area, was killed on his field during a conflict between the Doko and Kupafu populations in Niger’s Lavun Local Government Area. The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended the suspect accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in the Alakuko area of the state.  This was confirmed by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency on Friday.
