The president Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government has finally initiated plans to enlist the services of an external auditor to verify the N2.7tn fuel subsidy claim by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) against the government. The yet-to-be-named auditor will help the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation determine the actual amount due by the government. The Kaduna State Police Command has stopped an armed robbery attempt, apprehended two suspected car thieves, and seized 15 Army camouflage materials.  According to a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, on Tuesday, the first operation took place on August 25, 2024, when authorities stopped a car on the Birnin Gwari-Kaduna Highway and discovered 15 pieces of unsown military camouflage. Two men have been charged with murder following the deaths of a mother and her three children in a house fire. Bryonie Gawith, 29, and her three children, Denisty Birtle, nine; Oscar Birtle, five; and Aubree Birtle, 22 months, were killed in a fire on Westbury Road in Bradford on August 21. Mohammed Shabir, 44, of Alice Street, Keighley, and Calum Sunderland, 25, of Calton Street, Keighley, have each been charged with four counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
