Waheed Ayilara, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, has died.  The Nation reported that Ayilara died in the early hours of Thursday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja. The Federal Government has urged members of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) to end their seven-day warning strike.  Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of State for Health, made the call while visiting the National Eye Centre in Kaduna on Thursday. Robert Telles, a former Nevada politician, has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of a journalist who published critical pieces about his tenure in office.  Telles, 47, has been in jail without bail since 2022 for slashing investigative journalist Jeff German of the Las Vegas Review Journal. During the trial, prosecutors presented the jurors with DNA evidence discovered under Mr. German’s fingernails, which they claimed belonged to Telles, who had pleaded not guilty. Jeremy Skibicki, a Canadian serial killer, has received four life sentences for the 2022 killings of four Indigenous women in Winnipeg.  He had no reaction as the punishment was given, and he remained emotionless as family members of victims made angry impact statements in court on Wednesday. A 36-year-old woman, simply identified as Abiola, has been confirmed dead while undergoing a buttocks enlargement procedure (BBL) at a clinic in the Lekki-Phase 1 area of Lagos State. The president Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Education, has established a subcommittee to consider the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
