Governor Douye Diri announced that the state would unveil its independent power plant soon as Bayelsa State was thrown into darkness following the vandalism of power towers connecting it to the national grid. A 43-year-old realtor, Jimi Folarin, who reportedly went missing days after being called by a client to inspect properties in the Imota area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, has escaped from a kidnappers’ den. No fewer than 177 suspects were arrested by the Ebonyi State Police Command for various crimes in October 2024, including four linked to alleged organ harvesting and ritual killings. The police command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, disclosed the arrests at a news conference in Abakaliki on Friday, which included 162 males and 15 females. The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has described the fainting of six minors in court before their arraignment as a deliberate act, scripted to attract negative attention. Egbetokun emphasised, however, that medical help was swiftly supplied, demonstrating the police’s devotion to the well-being of those in their care.
