A petrol-laden tanker caught fire on Thursday at the FIDSCO sector of the Sagamu-Benin expressway in Ogun State.  Seni Ogunyemi, the Commandant of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, confirmed the occurrence, stating that the truck slid into a ditch before catching fire. According to Ogunyemi, despite warnings, some residents were spotted attempting to gather petrol from the spill. The Delta State Police Command has arrested Peter, 21, and ThankGod, 17, for the murders of two individuals in different incidences.  In a video interview published on Thursday by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, the accused admitted to their crimes. Many people were reportedly killed in a fresh raid by bandits in Anyiin, Logo Local Government Area, Benue State.  The bandits were alleged to have stormed the town on Wednesday around 6:32 p.m., killing a large number of people. Several more apparently suffered varied degrees of injury, and several people were reported missing as of the time of reporting this article. Benjamin Okello, a 22-year-old football fan, was killed on Sunday as a result of a football-related argument with an Arsenal supporter at Western Uganda’s Kyobugombe Trading Centre.  The fight broke out after celebrations and taunts following Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium, according to Ugandan news outlet The Daily Monitor. The Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Area Command, disclosed it intercepted different contrabands, including 8,850 litres of petrol and 168 sacks of fake medicament between August and September 2024. Dr. Ben Oramalugo, Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, said in a statement on Wednesday that the command earned N23.9 billion in revenue during the review period. The Customs chief stated that the amount marks a 27.5 percent rise over the sum of N17.3 billion produced in the similar period of 2023. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has secured the conviction of Henry Nathaniel Ekanem, a final-year student at the University of Port Harcourt. According to a statement on the anti-graft agency’s X.com page, Justice A.T. Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, convicted Ekanem and sentenced him to 14 years in jail for internet fraud on Wednesday. There was jubilation in the camp of the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amawhule, and loyalists of FCT minister Nyesom Wike following the barring of federal allocations to Rivers State.
