A Rwandan soldier opened fire in a pub on Wednesday, killing five civilians in the country’s southern town, the army said. It was unclear what caused the early morning gunfire. However, the Rwandan Defence Forces identified the shooter as a 39-year-old sergeant. “RDF has arrested the suspect and will take necessary legal action against him,” the East African country’s military said in a statement. Six Rwandan troops were detained in 2020 after reportedly raping and assaulting citizens in Kigali’s Kangondo slum during the Covid pandemic lockdown.

The Edo State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, approved on Wednesday the dissolution of the executive boards, agencies, and parastatals in the state’s public service, with immediate effect. A massive fire has broken out at the popular Eco Fitness Hub in the Gwarinpa area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. According to reports, the inferno, which erupted on Wednesday, has engulfed large portions of the facility, though the cause remains unknown. The Department for Combating Illegal Migration in Libya has deported seven Nigerians, three Bangladeshis, and three Ghanaians who were arrested at the Qanfoudah Immigration Detention Centre. The deportees were flown out of the country through Benina International Airport in Benghazi. Migrant Rescue Watch reported on Tuesday via their X handle that these folks were deported after breaking Libyan law. Song Jae-Rim, a South Korean actor best known for his performance in the K-drama The Moon Embracing the Sun, was found dead in his Seoul flat on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.  Born 18 February 1985, the popular actor died at the age of 39. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned a man identified as Heart Chidozie Obum before the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, presided over by Justice Ramon Oshodi, on five counts of forgery, stealing, and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N72 million. The Ondo State Police Command announced on Tuesday that one prophetess, Mrs. Folashade Adekola, had been detained in connection with the deaths of a woman, Jumoke Adesuwa, and her newborn infant within the church.  On Tuesday, our correspondent learnt that the deceased died of complications from childbirth inside the suspect’s church in Akure’s Oke-Aro district.
