Elizabeth Bidei, the Bayelsa State Executive Council and Commissioner for Women Affairs, has passed away. Her death was announced in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, on Tuesday. Obiyai sympathised with her family, especially her husband, Jackson Bidei, and their children. However, the cause of her death and the date were not disclosed by Obiyai. Senator Shehu Sani has called for the enactment of a law prohibiting lawmakers from tampering with budgets presented by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). Operatives of the Nigeria police have allegedly harassed a social media influencer, accusing him of fraud. President Joe Biden announced on Monday a $2.5 billion security assistance package for Ukraine as Washington races to provide aid to Kyiv before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
