The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a 63-year-old man, Ernesto Chukwudum Chukwukamma, for alleged extortion, impersonation, and obtaining the sum of ₦2m under false pretence to influence the investigation of a $4.5 billion alleged Petroleum Trust Fund fraud. The Niger State Police Command says it has detained for prosecution a dismissed soldier for alleged impersonation and fraudulent acts. This was revealed in a statement by the command’s public relations officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, on Tuesday in Minna. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has authorised deposit money banks to begin charging fees for unstructured supplemental service data transfers straight from users’ mobile airtime. No fewer than 200 prisoners in Karachi, Pakistan have escaped after they were permitted to leave their cells following a series of earthquake tremors. Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar, the provincial law minister, told reporters at the scene that hundreds of prisoners were allowed into the jail courtyard due to the tremors. “There was panic here because of earthquake tremors,” said Lanjar, adding that it was hard to control a throng of up to 1,000 people.
