China sentences ex-defence ministers to death over corruption

The Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has begun the delivery of judgment in the petition filed by the Labour Party’s governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, challenging the victory of Sanwo-Olu at the March 18 governorship election. Wasiu Ibrahim, a 41-year-old vulcanizer, was on Friday sentenced to life imprisonment by an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for raping his wife’s 15-year-old niece. The presiding judge, Justice Rahman Oshodi, who handed down the sentence, held that the prosecution sufficiently proved beyond reasonable doubt the charge of defilement against Ibrahim.
