Popular Nigerian cleric, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has said that oral sex by a couple, a man and his wife, is not a sin. The cleric said this when his church, Omega Fire Ministries International, headquartered in Edo State, hosted a question and answer session. The video clip in which the general overseer (GO) of the church made the remarks was uploaded on YouTube on 22 August 2025, with a woman seen reading out the question that elicited Suleman’s answer. “Daddy, Sir, is oral sex a sin?” the woman asked Apostle Suleman, who chuckled before giving a response. “Should I answer…
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum says Nigerians are ready to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, accusing the ruling party of worsening hardship across the country. In a communiqué issued after their meeting in Gusau, Zamfara state, the governors pledged to “rescue Nigerians” from what they described as the APC’s divisive governance and failed policies. Despite recent defections, the forum insisted the PDP remains the strongest opposition force with deep grassroots support and growing public appeal. The governors alleged that recent by-elections were marred by military intimidation, vote buying, irregularities and violence, but…
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has issued an urgent warning to residents living along the River Niger in Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara states to move to safer areas. In a statement, Zubaida Umar, NEMA director-general, said the directive follows alerts of rising water levels in the upstream of the river in the Republic of Benin. She said the agency has activated its flood preparedness and response protocols. She also directed NEMA’s regional and zonal offices along the River Niger corridor to intensify public awareness efforts and mobilisation campaigns in at-risk communities. “Residents in Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara states, which…
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has completed a five-day voluntary medical outreach in Kano, offering open-heart surgeries and cardiac catheterisations at no cost to patients. The campaign, held between 18 and 22 August, brought a 25-member Saudi medical team to Nigeria, where they carried out dozens of complex, life-saving procedures for people who otherwise lacked access to such specialised care. The initiative in Kano is part of KSrelief’s wider global programme aimed at delivering critical medical interventions to vulnerable communities. Over the years, the centre has led missions across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.…
Bayo Ojulari, group chief executive officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, has revealed that lack of project continuity is a major factor slowing down progress in the oil and gas sector. Ojulari spoke during a meeting organised by Ekperikpe Ekpo, minister of state for petroleum resources (gas), in commemoration of Ekpo’s second year in office. Highlighting the lack of collaboration, he noted that if stakeholders persist in working in isolation, “we will not achieve economies of scale”. “That’s one critical areas of investment, of collaboration that we need to drive. When it comes to projects, what…
Viktor Gyokeres scored his first Arsenal goals as the Gunners put five past Leeds after unveiling new £60m signing Eberechi Eze before kick-off. It was a jubilant atmosphere in north London as Eze was introduced to the crowd before the game and the energetic crowd seemed to give the team a lift. Jurrien Timber scored the opening goal, heading in a trademark set piece before providing an assist for Bukayo Saka for Arsenal’s second. Saka smashed a shot past Lucas Perri just before half-time but then the England winger was forced to limp off injured in the second half. Striker…
Tottenham Hotspur made it back-to-back Premier League victories under new manager Thomas Frank by stunning Manchester City once again at Etihad Stadium. Tottenham came here last November and inflicted a 4-0 humbling of City in a scintillating performance, and they went home once more with all three points courtesy of a resolute defensive display. They started slowly as Omar Marmoush latched on to Pedro Porro’s loose header and squeezed a shot narrowly wide of the far post before seeing a thunderous strike from range pushed away by Guglielmo Vicario. The Egyptian was lively early on and forced another excellent save…
In bedrooms across Nigeria, a booming “manpower” market is thriving. Pills, herbal mixtures and powders promising sexual stamina are sold openly on WhatsApp, in kiosks and on street corners. But behind the glossy promises of satisfaction lies a health crisis few are willing to discuss. The Allure and the Cost For 28-year-old Osas, it started with a comment from his girlfriend—her ex “lasted longer.” Embarrassed, he bought sex enhancers. At first, the results seemed magical. Soon, however, he developed priapism, a painful and prolonged erection that left him scarred and struggling with declining performance. His relationship collapsed under the strain.…
Mr. Taribo West (not going to call him a pastor) is the latest ex-athlete to wail about the “abandonment” of ex-internationals by government and sports authorities. His words came at the burial of his former teammate, Peter Rufai. Every few months, the country is treated to the familiar cry that the nation uses its stars and dumps them when the lights are out. It sounds persuasive, even sympathetic. It, however, rests on the wobbly assumption that once an athlete wears national colours, the state should remain his or her lifelong provider. Sure, sports representation is service. It is, however, not…
England captain Harry Kane scored a hat-trick as defending champions Bayern Munich began the Bundesliga season by thrashing RB Leipzig. It took 27 minutes for the hosts to break the deadlock when Michael Olise sent a powerful strike into the far corner after the ball dropped invitingly into his path. Serge Gnabry was instrumental in the build-up to that goal and also the second five minutes later as the German picked out Luis Diaz after an excellent passing routine. The Colombian forward rifled an effort in off the underside of the crossbar for his first Bundesliga goal since his summer…
