The police in Akwa Ibom have arrested a man, Akaninyene Sunday Okokon, for allegedly killing his 16-year-old daughter, Abasiono, for using his sim card to call her boyfriend. Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed yesterday charged residents of the state to “take up arms and defend” themselves against bandits. “You are known to be warriors. The Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) arrested 3,245 offenders for various traffic offences between January to December, 2022. In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Agency, Nabilusi Abubakar, on Friday, he said the number of offenders reduced in 2022, compared to previous year when KAROTA recorded 7,835 offenders. A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, on Thursday, barred the Department of State Services and the Inspector General of Police from arresting and detaining the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, over allegations of terrorism and sundry offences against him.
