The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has resigned his position to pursue his 2023 presidential ambition. Nwajiuba who has been rumoured to be the ‘anointed’ candidate of President Muhammadu Buhari is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). An Appeal Court in Abuja, on Wednesday, vacated the judgement of the Federal High Court in Umuahia, Abia State, which voided the provision of Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022. The appellate court, in a unanimous decision by a three-man panel of justices led by Justice Hamma Akawu Barka, held that the high court, acted without jurisdiction. It held that the Plaintiff, Mr. Nduka Edede, lacked the locus standi to institute the action. President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday ordered all ministers seeking elective offices in 2023 to resign on or before 16 May. Buhari gave the directive during the Federal Executive Council meeting held at the Presidential Villa. “All members of President Buhari’s cabinet vying for public office will have to resign on or before May 16, 2022,” Tolu Ogunlesi, Special Assistant to President on Digital and New Media said on Twitter. The number of teams in the Champions League group stage will rise from 32 to 36 from 2024-25 under changes approved by UEFA. Under the new Champions League format, each team will play eight games over 10 match weeks. But a plan to give two Champions League places to individual clubs solely on the basis of their past European performance has been abandoned. Millions of hard-up Britons are skipping meals because they cannot afford to eat in the deepening cost-of-living crisis, a bleak report revealed Monday.
