Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) and Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) have filed a lawsuit against President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) over “the arbitrary use of the NBC Act and broadcasting code to threaten, revoke and shut down 53 broadcast stations in the country for allegedly failing to renew their licenses.” Joined in the suit as Defendant is Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture. The Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected cultist, Jamiu Rasheed, 22, who was captured on CCTV on July 7, 2022 hacking and shooting to death one Akinola Ayegbusi, a rival cult member at a restaurant in the Alapere area of Lagos state. Investigations revealed that Jamiu has been a member of Klansman confraternity since 2017 and has participated in the killing of two other rival cultists. A group of Kenyans filed a case against the British government at the European Court of Human Rights on Tuesday over what it said was colonial-era land theft, torture and mistreatment.
