The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja, has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a re-run chairmanship election in six wards of Kuje Area Council. Delivering judgment, Chief Magistrate Muinat Oyekan, who led a three-member panel, nullified the elections held in nine polling units where elections were marred by irregularities. The judge ordered that the rerun should be conducted across the affected polling units won by the incumbent Kuje Area Council Chairman, Abdullahi Sabo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Musa Abdullahi, deputy chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, has noted with concern the lethargy displayed by some government agencies invited by the Reps committee. Speaking on Wednesday at the resumed meeting of departments and agencies for the scrutiny of their finances, Abdullahi urged heads of such agencies to demonstrate a high sense of responsibility whenever they were invited. The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), FCT Command, says there is no disquiet in Kuje Custodial Centre over the death of an inmate. It dismissed some online publications that there were some disturbances by the inmates of custodial centre, Kuje, as a result of the death of an inmate. The command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chukwuedo Humphrey, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja. Justice Ibrahim Yusuf of the Kwara State High Court, Ilorin, Kwara State has convicted and sentenced two fashion designers: Jatto Mujeeb, Opeyemi Bhadmus Abdulsamad, alongside three other internet fraudsters: Ipadeola Olawale, Tomiwa Kingsley and Kolawole Segun to various jail terms. They were jailed on Monday, August 29, 2022 after pleading guilty to three-count separate charges bordering on internet fraud, cheating and possession of fraudulent funds.
